Top Tips For Power Leveling Your World Of Warcraft Character

July 10th, 2010

The broad scope of World of Warcraft appeals to people all over the world, and every day there are people working hard to move their character up the ranks. If your character is at the highest level you have access to exclusive gear and supplies, so it makes sense that most people strive to move up the ranks quickly. You can easily power level your character if you know the right techniques to follow while you’re playing.

Purchasing gold online or using automated software is promoted by many people as a way to quickly level, but all of these methods violate the World of Warcraft terms of service. These inappropriate techniques are closely watched by Blizzard, and they will not hesitate to disable any account that misuses the game.

Power leveling in World of Warcraft is about legitimate gameplay, and it’s even more about your style of play. There are ways to maximize your efficiency using normal gameplay. By making the right decisions at the right time, you can dramatically increase the amount of time it takes to gather the experience you need.

Power leveling isn’t any fun if you’re spending all of your time grinding away at one or two tasks. Riding around and collecting herbs day after day isn’t a very fun way to play a game. To really get the most out of power leveling, you’ll want to work through one interesting quest after another without skipping a beat.

In World of Warcraft, you’ve got many options available on where you go next. Many people are put into positions where their decisions have a negative impact on their experience point gathering. You have to consider the value of each quest and only follow those with the largest gain. In the end, you may find yourself abandoning older quests in order to gain faster experience.

If you’re smart, you’ll use gold to your advantage. You don’t want to be in a position where you’ve gathered a large amount of gold without using it to help you power level your character. If you have better gear, you’ll take less damage and increase the amount of experience you make through killing the assorted demons and beasts.

Patches are released for World of Warcraft on a constant schedule, and you should always look through the release notes to determine what changes may affect your experience point gathering. Some changes can be relatively minor, but others might have a dramatic impact on your character’s skills or abilities. Don’t be left in the dark after a patch is released!

You have a lot of options for travel in World of Warcraft, and making the wrong decision about a flight point or a blimp can cost you a lot of time. Make sure you note the locations of these important travel depots, and strategically using your hearthstone can save you an enormous amount of travel time. With the right travel plans, you’ll find yourself leveling up at light speed!

The World of Warcraft talent tree can be used to provide some incremental improvements to your character, and when you’re power leveling every small advantage really makes a difference. Many people make the mistake of ignoring their talent tree completely, and they’ll never know how many additional hours it’s taking to level up their character. Make sure you study your talent tree and understand the advantages it provides.

You don’t have to take up any tradeskills, but you would probably be missing out on some significant gear and gold advantages. If you’re leveling your skills along with your main level, you may be able to outfit your character with custom gear. Everything that’s left over can be used in the Auction House to finance any additional gear needs.

As you can tell by now, the process of power leveling must be managed properly to really optimize the experience gathering process. A combination of skills, techniques, and some simple management of the process can dramatically speed your path up the ranks. Good luck with your adventuring, and we’ll see you on the battleground!

Secrets Of Deathknight PVP

May 29th, 2010

The basis for good Deathknight PvP is knowing your moves, the most important of which are arguably your spell interrupts. Mind Freeze is the standard interruption spell and can be improved to reduce its runic power cost; with this in mind, and its short ten second cool-down, you can really cause problems for enemy healers. Another option is Strangulate, which is long range and affects all spell schools; however, it does have a longer two minute cool-down, making it wise to save for coordinated healer lockouts in group PvP. With Mind Freeze, be sure to lock out the appropriate spell line – for healers, that means nature or holy, depending on their class.

Deathknights also have a number of potent abilities for controlling and restricting enemy movement. Chains of Ice is a very powerful slowing spell, which starts with nearly stopping the target in their tracks. For the purposes of other classes, resistance spells and talents, Chains of Ice is considered to be a slow and not a rooting or immobilization effect, meaning you can use it to kite Arms Warriors without triggering Second Wind. Deathgrip is probably the most famous Deathknight spell, being able to pull an enemy directly to you from a significant range, and when used in team play you can pick a target, pull them in and have a stealthy ally tear into them for a very potent combination attack. You can also use this move to prevent enemies from kiting you when combined with Chains of Ice.

Another important group of abilities are your baseline defensive spells. The most powerful of these (when supported by a glyph) is Icebound Fortitude, giving a mighty 40% damage protection shield. Without glyphs, the best defensive spell is Death Pact, which lets the Deathknight consume one of his undead minions to restore 40% of your health – it is roughly comparable to the Paladin skill, Lay on Hands, for regaining the advantage in a losing fight. There is also Anti-Magic Shell for those looking to deal with dangerous Mages, Warlocks, and others. Anti-Magic Shell gives a 75% baseline magic defense for five seconds. Improved with talents, it offers full magic protection for longer, and unlocks Anti-Magic Zone, a powerful spell which will be covered later.

Getting into further detail with talent tree specific survival spells, we have Rune Tap for Blood, Unbreakable Armor for Frost, Bone Shield and Anti-Magic Zone for Unholy. RuneTap, when supported by the improvement talents and the related glyph, will heal the caster for 30% health and the rest of his party for 10% health every 30 seconds, making it a very potent spell costing only one Blood Rune to cast; also, with its low talent investment cost, it’s an option for other talent specialists too. Unbreakable Armor is a moderately useful combined armor and strength boost, which when used can turn the tide of a melee versus melee fight in your favor. There are also Frost talents that improve the power of Icebound Fortitude greatly. Bone shield, a star of the Unholy line, gives the caster 20% damage reduction and 2% increased damage, lasts for three incoming hits and has a 60 second cool-down. Unholy with Anti-Magic Zone gives your group a bubble to hide in that will absorb roughly 20,000 damage for a well geared PvP Deathknight.

Professions can be used to get an extra edge in battle, with jewelcrafting and blacksmithing being a popular combination since you get superior gems and free sockets to set them in. Engineering is a strong overall profession that gives you a nice mix of additional powers, like nitro boosted boots, rocket launching gloves, parachutes and even a mind controlling feature for your helmet. Alchemy is another good choice, particularly for battleground enthusiasts, since flasks last though PvP deaths. In terms of picking your stats, other than of course stacking resilience for PvP, the popular Arena Junkies site has this to say on stat priority: “Hit capping (roughly 5%), spell penetration capping (approx 135 rating), strength, crit, agility/haste”.

In terms of popularity for PvP, Unholy is the current top dog. The talent line can be vastly improved by dipping slightly into Blood for improved Rune Tap, not only giving you more use for Blood runes but giving you fantastic healing potential. However, it’s a definite trade off, as you’ll have to sacrifice your improved powers over ghouls in order to make this variant viable. Unfortunately in PvP, due to the frantic nature of battle, you won’t really have much of a rotation, so instead focus on key-binding the attacks that have been most enhanced by your chosen talent line. Any talent tree can be somewhat viable for PvP, but Unholy is generally considered to best play to the strengths of the Deathknight class.

Warcraft Blacksmith 525 Illustrious – A Guide To Get You Ready.

May 21st, 2010

If you are currently a Blacksmith In Warcraft then you’ll know how up and down the profession can be in terms of demand. So what can we expect with Blacksmithing 525 Illustrious and the Cataclysm expansion.

The profession produces plate armour and decent weapons. It’s also true that plate armour is the most popular as the most equipment reliant classes of Warrior and Paladin both rely on it.

When Warcraf was originally released there were a glut of Warriors and Paladins taking the dual professions of Blacksmithing with Mining. In this way they hoped to gain some self sufficiency as far as equipment went. Blacksmithing was very popular. Will this still be the case with Cataclysm and Illustrious 525 Blacksmithing?

However, as more instances were added to the end game, it became apparent that the armour you could craft with your profession was inferior to the end game instance drops, and Blacksmithing slowly lost it’s popularity.

It was initially suspected that Blizzard would compensate by having a range of BoP recipes drop to keep some sort of balance between crafted and looted items. While there were a few of these, there were no-where near enough to keep the profession viable as a producer of equipment for high end instances

Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King both re-ignited interest in the profession for a while as there was a new tier of Blacksmithing added. The weapons and plate armour was again in demand for levelling to the new cap, and for the initial instances. However, as additional content was added, the same decline occurred.

This is something Blizzard have been asked about, after all Alchemy, Enchanting and some of the other professions retain value through the whole of the game cycle, but despite this the paucity of end game BoP recopies to keep Blacksmith’s “in the game” has not really seen much of an improvement.

In short, blacksmithing is a strange profession. Having value at the high end for only 20% of each expansion’s life cycle, but retaining some usefulness to those still in the levelling process throughout the game.

I suggest, if you have a 450 Blacksmith. Rushing through to level 85 and “illustrious” level with the profession as soon as Cataclysm hits, then making a load of high end items – before settling back into making decent levelling equipment for those keen to progress with Worgen and Goblin

Enchanting 525 Illustrious – What Can You Expect In Cataclysm?

May 19th, 2010

Warcraft allows you two primary professions. Enchanting is perhaps the hardest of these to level, but arguably the most rewarding

The process of enchanting requires ingredients made by destroying or “disenchanting” uncommon (or better) weapons and armour that you find. Destroying the item itself in the process.

For some, the act of finding loot, then destroying it to make enchanting ingredients seems a very hard step to take, but it does have an upside.

As Warcraft has matured, many lower level green items, and even some blue, are not fetching a decent gold price at the auction house. In fact you may find that the ingredients that your greens disenchants into are actually worth more than the greens themselves.

At high level, every level capped character looks to have the absolute best enchantment on every item in every slot. This will certainly be the case with Enchanting 525 Illustrious

An expensive profession then, but one with a huge end game potential.

It is nice to have two options with your low level loot, but beware there is one huge drawback that will cripple characters who are not wealthy.

The tools needed to progress, may well end up costing you more than any other item in the game!

At each level of advancement, the rod needs to be upgraded. Starting with a basic metal rod supplied in quantities by trainee blacksmiths, the rod’s upgrade path progresses through to some of the most valuable and rare items in the game. The upgrade to a new rod also “destroys” the old rod in the process. On some servers it may cost perhaps 10,000 gold just to keep your tool up to date. How much will the rod for Enchanting 525 Illustrious cost?

But look on the bright side. High level enchants can go for between 500 gold and 1000 gold. So once you have scaled this peak, the rewards are there, and will keep coming.

At the end of the day, Enchanting may not be the ideal profession for new players or people without rich main characters, but it is possibly the best gold spinning profession once you reach the end game. Speed on to Enchanting level 525 Illustrious.

Can Priest Leveling Be Achieved in Under 8 Days?

May 16th, 2010

Figuring out what you want to do with your character before you start priest leveling is never a bad idea. Do you want to be the best healer possible? Perhaps a more well rounded character good in any situation or do you want to be a lethal killer? Most players think of Priests only as healers however they bring a lot more to the table. They have the ability to shield other players making them highly desirable, no other class can bring shields these kinds of shields to the table. By far the fastest way to level a priest in the current version of WoW is to make use of the dungeon finder tool, as a healer you can be gaining experience almost non stop. The earliest you can make use of the finder tool is level 13, though some prefer to wait until their 20ies so that they have a wider palette of skills.

Discipline is a popular Priest spec for current endgame, particularly among PvP enthusiasts. It combines endurance with solid healing, and modest offensive powers. A defining specialization of this tree is it’s focus on shielding others as opposed to direct healing. The Holy specialization is your quintessential PvE healing build; and the bar by which all other healing classes and specializations are measured, it also increases the power of the more basic holy offensive priest spells.. A word of caution though, the Lightwell talent and spell is often the butt of jokes as it requires those being healed to activate it. Your mileage may vary, as it can be very helpful in certain raiding situations.

Lastly we have the Shadow tree, an oddball in terms of the Priest leveling archetypes, this spec focuses almost entirely on dealing damage in Shadowform, a mode which makes you tougher though unable to heal yourself & others. Shadow is a good choice if your guild has an over abundance of healers or you are looking for more offensive power. You won’t get the Shadow trees full effect until Shadowform becomes available at level 40+

During your early priest carrier you will find that owning a wand, any wand will drastically improve your speed solo questing. Use a wand to do supplemental damage between heals (in a group) or to conserve mana while on solo missions. The more you use your wand against trivial foes, the longer you can go without sitting to drink, and that equates to faster experience generation. Early wands will have only DPS as a stat. Later on try to find wands that boost spell power, intellect, stamina and spirit.

Choosing stats for Priest leveling is fairly easy. At early levels you will be looking for items with Intellect, Spirit and Stamina in that order, once you pace level 60 spell power and critical hit rating become prominent stats to consider on equipment. (Though in coming versions of WoW intellect will be the basis for spell power and the old spell power on equipment will be gone.) When you are looking for green quality upgrades look for items “of the Eagle” and “of the Owl” early on and “of the Sorcerer” and “Of the Invoker” later on after level 60. The importance of Stamina grows greatly for Priests that are involved in PvP, keep this in mind before you venture into battle.

As a Priest leveling through the dungeon system you can grow somewhat complacent with a tank taking all the hits for your but this has a dangerous pitfall. You see in the current version of WoW all players have a defense statistic that can only be leveled by taking direct hits themselves so you need to do a little questing. If you don’t you might find yourself easy prey for a stray enemy. This weakness also is amplified in PvP situations. When it comes to healing you can make yourself look more skilled by preemptive use of renew. As a support character, finding a guild and socialization becomes more important. Be friendly and find a few reliable tanks that you can practice fighting along side of. Remember, what you learn soloing can be applied to groups, don’t hesitate to contribute to damage dealing when you have the time.

In less than 5 minutes you will discover how to really achieve priest leveling fast and get to L80 in under 8 days of in-game time. Check out Ed Sale priest leveling guide Website to discover all the hidden secrets.

Enchanting 525 Illustrious – Levelling and Selling

May 15th, 2010

Inscription, introduced in Wrath of the Lich King was a real boon for enchanters. The vellums they make saved enchanters a lot of time and effort.

There was no way of actually marketing your whereas, as an enchanter without standing in the middle of your local city and calling out on the trade channel A process that might often take hours and hours of your time just to sell a couple of items.

Inscription bought with it “vellums” on which you can put your enchants which can then be marketed at the auction house like any other item. Thank goodness. Enchanting 525 Illustrious will bring yet more changes.

Inscription, therefore, might seem a decent second choice for a profession. Allowing you to make your own “media” as it were. Patch 3.2 has made inscription a very decent choice all round, adding some very desirable crafted items to this profession.

Be warned though. Two crafting professions is a very (very) expensive way to play. I really don’t recommend it as a route for your first character. Perhaps roll an alt once you have a wealthy “main” to bankroll you.

It is best to analyse the market before making a decision on which enchants to make. Checking which particular items are in demand and which are overstocked.

Next I compare this with the materials I have at hand and the cost of some of the ingredients and reagents currently also at the auction house.

On occasion you may be able to simply buy most of what you need to make a good enchantment, and still make a good profit. Most of the time though you will need to source elsewhere due to lack of availability, or the prohibitive cost.

Having a high level character with two gathering professions is a great idea here. Questing or instancing with this character to get the materials you need for your enchanter. So it’s a good idea to have all characters up to Level 525 Illustrious with their professions, not just your enchanter.

At the end however, you may still need to disenchant blue or even epic “purple” items for the ingredients you need. So having a guild mate who can make disenchant-able items with a crafting profession – can save a lot of time and effort.

If this sounds far more complex than most crafts in Warcraft, then you are right. But it might well be the most rewarding and profitable in the long run. Good luck on reaching Enchanting 525 Illustrious.

Wotlk Shaman Leveling Secrets

May 12th, 2010

The Shaman class is an odd bird in the Warcraft universe, because every talent tree is equally viable, there is no clear “best” spec. So where does this leave the average player? The short answer is to pick the spec that best suits the style of play that you most enjoy. Hopefully this breakdown of their pros and cons can help you to choose. A tip for any spec: use water shield whenever you can.

The Elementalist; focused on damage dealing spells, this is the class for people that like the idea of being a chain mail clad battle mage-like character. Trademark moves like guaranteed critical strikes with lava burst after a flame shock, and the famous chain lightning, make this specialization a powerhouse. At home in PvP or raiding. Pros and Cons; strong burst damage and guaranteed critical hits make this a solid choice for PvP combat. The high spell power of this line also supports off-healing, which will help you make friends in any situation. Elemental also sports some great defensive moves, such as thunderstorm, which knocks enemies flying back, often to their deaths, while giving you room to cast spells. The earth and fire talent gives your earthbind totem the power to entangle foes with roots, keeping them out of attack range. If for some reason ( like counter spells, incapacitates and cool downs) you can’t use your two big defensive moves, then you will find yourself easy prey for melee fighters.

The Enhancement Fighter; this is the in your face melee build for Shaman, widely considered to be the best leveling choice. Rare in PvP due to the more vulnerable nature of not using a shield, it is however capable of tearing up most foes. Your success is very dependant on your quick and skillful juggling of defense and offense totems as well as the quality of weapons you are able to obtain. Pros and Cons; While in melee oriented groups your totems offer a great synergy, driving other heroes to feats of strength they could not otherwise achieve. Fast paced play and cool looking moves define the enhancement style. Summoning a pair of powerful ghost wolves to fight alongside you gives you the damage rush you need to tear even the toughest foes to ribbons in seconds. Instant cast ghost wolf form offers superior mobility. Being more vulnerable than other types of shaman because of the lack of a shield, this leaves you a high priority PvP target, and open to being steamrolled by raid bosses who do area attacks. You can counter this to a certain degree with skillfully using your totems.

Resto Shaman was at one point the central figure when it came to healers of the Horde. However in recent years with the addition of paladins the horde and a balancing of the factions they play a more relaxed equal role these days. The Alliance is still getting used to working with shaman players, as they are pretty rare ally side. (I am betting we will see a lot more Ally Shaman in Cataclysm when dwarves can become one.) The trademark heal of restoration shamans is arguably chain-heal; a fantastic spell for directing heals to location specific damage spikes. Think for a moment that you see a group of warriors running away a little too slowly from Onyxia’s deep breath fire blast, who is most likely to save them? The answer is a Resto shaman, druids HoT spells are too slow and too weak, a priest would have to stand in there with them to get them all, and a paladin saving more than two at once forget it. Ups and Downs of Resto Shaman; on the upside you have powerful directional and single target heals as well as Earth-shield to keep the tank up in PvE, or to keep you standing in PvP. You also have the benefit of being significantly more heavily armored than a priest. The downside, you don’t get any of the nice permanent buffs that other classes have. Totems can be helpful but not everyone notices their more subtle benefits. Another weakness that on its own, restoration doesn’t have much in the way of dazzling defensive moves.

Elementalists should make use of wrath of air, as the spell haste bonus provided is widely regarded as the best totem for offensive casters and provides a solid boost to grouped healers. Enhancement fighters should practice juggling their earth totems as the situation calls for, strength of earth being the go to choice for when you are not in danger, glyphed stone claw and stone-skin being for situations where you are under pressure. A common mistake committed by newbie resto healers is to use a mana spring totem while a paladin is providing blessing of wisdom, as the two spells don’t stack, so you are better off using something else. In general, try to make good use of your grounding totem to absorb incoming spell damage and your healing stream totem to passively assist your groups.

With a reputation as easy targets, shaman have had it rough in on the battlefield for last few years. However mastering the use of your defensive totems, and spells as well as kiting can help stay on your feet and out of the graveyard. First off if you plan to PvP it is near essential to dip into enhancement deep enough to get instant cast ghost-wolf form, adding a glyph to this spell will cause it to heal you as you run making it a near perfect escape/kiting move. Improved and glyphed ghost-wolf form is so good that it is even the envy of druids, the supposed masters of shape-shifting. There are a few survival features in every talent line so don’t hesitate to experiment. Dueling is a great way to do stress testing to find what works best for you.
