The End Of The Road For Warcraft Gold Guides.

March 7th, 2010

Sometime soon we are going to see the end of Warcraft gold guides. The idea of looking at a book while playing to find out what to do to make WoW gold are coming to an end.

Let’s face it, reading a PDF document while playing is not really state-of-the-art is it? One minute you are playing, the next clicking on a pile of text trying to work out where to go to grind or farm materials, or what items might be cheap at the Auction house that day.

If you think about it, even the name “guide” is not really what you are after. If you climb a mountain for example a guide is someone who tells you the route and walks with you. Maybe telling you where it’s safe to camp and help carry the equipment.

Don’t get me wrong, a guide is useful, but it doesn’t really do the job for you does it? A guide just, well, guides you.

Then there are the guides that call themselves “systems”. Have you seen these? A system is a procedure you follow, using tools provided to achieve a result. Ok, fine, well the system in these guides seems to be;

1 – Please follow the guide provided.

2 – If unsure refer to part 1.

Yes I know a couple add macro code you can cut and paste. WoW amazing. Like that would have taken you all of five minutes to work out yourself. Ok, I’m being a little harsh. macro code for buying and selling can seem a little intimidating to none coders, but it really is very simple.

If it’s macros you are after, may I direct your attention to Wowwiki. Every possible macro for just about every possible event you can think of in the game. The hard bit is accessing them. Now follow closely. Ready? First you select the macro and “copy” then you go into your Warcraft interface and press “paste” got that? So “copy” then “paste”. Practice it a few times. Man If you bought a guide for auctioneer help and a few macros? You must feel a little sick now. You just paid for free inferior information. Ouch.

You want macros? Great! WoWwiki has a whole section with Warcraft macros, with examples of just about every one you can think of for every character type, race, profession and event in the game. You just copy and paste these straight into the Warcraft GUI. If you bought a “system” guide, then it will be a normal text document, with these two free elements added, then rebadged as a “system”. At least every one I’ve ever read has been like this. If you paid good money for this rehash of free information, then that’s gotta hurt. Sorry.

What Warcraft needs is a real system. Something where you press a button, and the inner workings of your servers’ economy gets ripped open.

Legal, safe and totally conforming to Blizzards terms and conditions. So simple a child could do it.

Imagine, no more grinding, no more farming, no “messin’ and guessin’” at the auction house’ A quick install, then a real system that does everything for you.

Gold Domination in Warcraft – A Update for Cataclysm

February 21st, 2010

Balancing the need to progress in Warcraft while also making sure that you have enough gold to be effective is a balance. One that sometimes requires a little help to maintain.

Using the auction house would seem the obvious way. It is a market and you can leverage skills rather than time to do this.

I have just read of a system that uses primarily cross market trading to make gold. That’s comparing the Horde price for any given item with those at Alliance auction houses. You then buy from the cheaper, transfer to another character of the opposite faction (via the neutral auction house) and sell at the market where the price is higher.

Sounds good? Hold on though. There are one or two very big drawbacks with this. Before you consider doing this you need to be aware of them.

Firstly you cannot buy from yourself at an Auction house using a single Warcraft account. You cannot, for example, post an item with a Horde character at a neutral auction house, switch to an Alliance character and pick the item up to market it at the Alliance auction house. The system won’t let you.

You need a second account or a friend to assist you. A second account means actually paying Blizzard for two Warcraft accounts. Having a friend help you means splitting the profits, normally halving them. Not so profitable now is it?

That’s not the end of the problems though. Just buying massive amounts of cheap stock is not going to work straight away. You risk flooding the market, you need a large (and by large I mean several hundred spaces) areas of storage. Your own storage that no-one can steal from, then drip feed to market. Also, this is a common method used by far eastern gold farmers (who have many accounts). You need to be quick. Remember it costs gold to put items on at auction. Flooding the market will end up losing you gold very quickly.

I’m not saying there isn’t a place for cross faction trading, of course there is. But you need to be aware of the potential drawbacks. Imagine buying a gold system, sitting down, and chapter one page one basically tells you to go and buy another Warcraft account and 30 days game time, that’s a shock you don’t want.

5 Things to Look Out For With Warcraft Gold Guides

February 4th, 2010

I never seem to have enough gold in Warcraft. Kill mob, loot mob. Then its hope that something valuable turns up that either improves my ability to kill mobs, or is worth a few more gold pieces at the auction house. But when you are saving for that next big purchase. An epic flying mount perhaps, then it seems as if you’ll never have enough gold.

But that can be a grind. Warcraft leveling is made a little quicker if you have the best equipment, and of course you want the bragging rights that go with looking and playing as well as you can.

So, perhaps you have been tempted to look at the array of Gold guides for Warcraft that are on the market. If you have, then maybe, like me, you are a little confused at the messages they seem to send out as part of their advertising.

So I’ve compiled a list of 5 do’s and don’ts when looking for the right Warcraft gold guide for you;

1 – Is the guide up to date? Simply mentioning “Wrath of the Lich King” does not make the guide up-to-date. WotLK is well over a year old. Patches 3.1 to 3.3 have changed the game massively. If the website of ad-copy mentions nothing past Wrath of the Lich King, then the guide is probably not up to date, and to be of any real use it does have to be up to date.

2 – See if you can get an idea of what the guide contains. This is a hard one. You might have noticed that most guides give you no real idea of what you are getting. The video and static sales page may show a screenshot of an in guide menu -if you are lucky. But not a glimpse of the content. There’s normally lot’s of waffle about being great, and better than all the other guides, but they don’t show you a glimpse of what you are thinking of buying.

Imagine going to buy a car and the salesman telling you how bad other cars are, and showing you what a nice showroom he had – but not showing you any of his own cars. I don’t know about you, but I would not even consider parting with my hard earned cash until I’d seen the product. In the case of a Warcraft gold guide, I want a video or at least a set of screenshots that give me an idea of what I am actually buying. Isn’t that just common sense?

3 – Have your BS filter fully switched on. The claims made by some guide producers are not just difficult to believe, they are against all logic and evidence. Here’s a fact. Blizzard themselves, in interview, as recently as December 19th 2009 have stated. Categorically, that on no single account anywhere, on any realm, or any server, has someone got two characters to gold cap. It has never happened. Period.

It has never happened, and would prove nothing about a guide written by someone who claims he did it. What would be the point? At gold cap you run out of things to spend it on (that are within the Blizzard ToS anyway) so why would anyone do it twice? Reins of the Borean Tundra and some crafted epics are the most valuable exchangeable items in the game. You could buy the lot several times over. Why spend hundreds of hours doing it again?

So if someone says they have several characters at gold cap, then take a look at Blizzards official comments posted 19th December 2009. It has never happened on any official Warcraft server anywhere. If someone says they have done it then bear what I have just said in mind.

You could, of course, mock up a few characters on a private server to make it look like they were at gold cap. That would be very simple. Private servers tend to be very laggy (as they are run on a shoestring budget) so that might be an aspect to look out for. If you were keen you could even set up a server client on yogurt own PC.

Ask yourself this. If someone is going to promote a product they have designed, that has taken them weeks to make, that they hope will be an important part of their income in the following months or even years…wouldn’t they wait to shoot the promotional video until a time when the real server wasn’t having massive lag? I mean if it’s that important, shouldn’t they wait and shoot your Youtube video a few minutes later? Of course, if they are on a private server that is always laggy, they would have no choice

If a sales ploy started with something I was suspicious about I almost definitely would not go on and buy that item. Inconsistencies such as claims that there was “Orange lag”, when the on screen monitor is clearly showing green, or introducing a level one alt who for some reason has talents not obtainable until level 40. These things should concern you.

4 – Make sure whatever guide you are considering comes with a full 60 day guarantee. If this is not explicitly stated before you buy it, then more than likely you do not have one. It helps if the shop front payment processor is a reputable one like Paypal or Clickbank

5 – Lastly, take a good look at the “bonuses” offered (they all have them). Is these any actual value to you? Are they simply things you could look up on Google in five minutes? A lot of the guides that offer loads of bonuses, but most a very light weight and better information would be available from Thottbot for free.

Good luck and happy gold hunting.

Warcraft Cataclysm – Latest WoW Info

January 24th, 2010

Cataclysm is this year, and several months after its initial announcement many of the broad details have become clear.

Speed seems to be the key. The game has become faster and faster over the past five years, and Cataclysm may well be the biggest speed boost yet.

No longer will you need to learn basic weapon skills when starting the game. Most classes will now come with three if not four weapons pre skilled.

You won’t be more skilled in your weapons, but you will, at least, be able to use the right weapons straight from the starting zones in Azeroth.

Not that you’ll be right at the start for long. Blizzard have hinted at double speed levelling for all. Though more recent postings have said this might just be a 50% increase.

However, to balance this, levels 81 to 85 will be by far the longest experiences in the game so far.

Apparently each is to be a major milestone. With achievements and unlocks being made at each one. How this will work in practice we will have to wait and see, but at least it seems to be a positive step.

Although real detail is some months away, we can now be pretty sure that both mana and health regeneration are going to be upped. I have heard only one figure mentioned here. That’s double speed regen. Alongside this, the “rested” stat will increase more quickly and give at least 66% more rested bonus (minimum of two and a half levels rested rather than the current one and a half)

For most this will alter the way they play. Levelling multiple characters at once will become the norm. The idea of bothering to level a toon when you do not have double XP will seem a waste of time.

This, most likely, was Blizzards intention all along.

MY prediction, and it seems a pretty obvious one, is that the game will focus even more towards “end game” instances and away from the levelling process. The exception being the levels 81 to 85.

5 Great Tips to Becoming a Warcraft Gold Generator

January 24th, 2010

These five tips will help you become a serious Warcraft gold generator. These first tips work at any level, and are therefore ideal for low level characters.

1- Spend as much time as possible playing the game properly. Powerleveling as fast as you can. This does three things.

Firstly it gives you access to areas with higher level loot. Secondly you will pick up travel and flight points (vital to making really serious gold later in the game). Thirdly, if you combine power leveling with questing, you will benefit from good quest rewards in terms of both the gold and decent weapons and armour.

2- This is one I have grown to love. Ask for a portal and position an alt at Dalaran. Use this character to buy and post back high level vendor items you can buy there. Bullets and arrows as well as food and drink fetch up to 100% more at your normal faction auction house. Check what’s on the market first, and don’t flood. With this tip you are effectively WotLK gold farming at a very low level!

3- Use your secondary crafting skills such as disenchanting, milling, transmutation or prospecting. It may be that the items you have in your inventory are worth more in an altered state. Crafting doesn’t offer a lot of perks to the serious gold maker, so make sure you use this one.

4- Auctioneer and other addons allow you to scan the auction house for bargain, Looking for items that are well below the average asking price. For this tip to work you need to have built up a decent number of full scans of the AH. I think probably 10 scans is enough as long as they are spread over a decent amount of time

5- Many people don’t put a buyout on their auctions. These auctions will of course have to run for the full time. Check the auctions with less than 30 minutes to run. You will often find no-one at all has bid. The player that put them on perhaps thought he would spark a bidding war (it rarely – if ever happens. No buy-out is a real no-no both for buyer and seller) Take advantage of their mistake and buy these items up for minimum bid of 1 copper more.

Quick note to those who say you shouldn’t bid just one copper above minimum…Why?

Do you like to give your hard earned gold away? If players are daft enough to put on items under priced and without buy-out then they will either be happy with the results and keep doing it – or learn very quickly what a terrible idea it is. It’s not your job to educate. It’s your job to leverage profit. It’s only a game after all.

I hope these tips help, and you are soon on your way to being a World of Warcraft Gold Generator.

Keeping Your Warcraft Account Secure. 5 Things You Should Do.

January 23rd, 2010

It seems the hackers are out in force again. Reports of account theft rose sharply over Christmas and the New Year, and of course many accounts with hundreds of hours of game time invested, have been lost.

Apparently there is a scam that invites the player to join a fictitious “Alpha” test for “Cataclysm”. You hand over your account name and password then…Well nothing, they steal your account. There is no official Alpha test for Cataclysm. Within minutes you account is hacked, your bank (and in all likelihood your guild bank) is ransacked and if you are high level, your account is offered for sale to a third party.

Another is a site that is a direct rip of the official Warcraft Armory. Every page from the armory has been duplicated. However, when you go to the account management area for the “special offers”, you are in fact giving your details (and your account) to hackers

What steps should you take if your account is stolen?

First, unless they have secured your account with an authenticator, you should be able to get your password back – even if it has been changed – through Blizzards password retrieval form

If you are successful, then change your account password again, and the contact e-mail if you can. Choose something very obscure. Mix upper and lower case letters and numbers. Use whatever special characters you can.

If this is a new scam, one you have not heard of, then do everyone a favour and post on the Warcraft forums. Let others know the details. Be that hero!

Whether you have your account back or not, contact Blizzard. If the account has not been “authenticated” they may be able to freeze activity on it until they investigate. This happens more than you think, Blizzard tech are pretty good at sorting these problems out if there is a way out (like I said though, if the hackers used an authenticator, then you will lose your account).

Finally, consider getting an authenticator yourself. So far no account with these devices has been reported as lost or hacked. It’s an extra one off cost, but if (like me) you’ve ever lost an account, you’ll know how valuable it seems.

Don’t forget your guild mates. As you read this the hacker is at your guild bank emptying it into his backpack. Ruining your reputation with your guild – so go to your guild forum and get an e-mail address of a guild mate. Ask someone else you know to post on chat on your server. Anything. Let your guild mates know, otherwise they may well assume you have stolen from the guild bank, and you may not be welcome back.

This is an avoidable problem. Look after your account, secure your guild. Consider getting extra security.

Take Care.

Dragonblight Gold On WOW

October 19th, 2009

There are few places more dangerous in the World of Warcraft than the Dragonblight. This valley was once a fertile area, but it is now a frozen wasteland. Even the snow and ice in the Dragonblight seem to have lost their vitality. It is a place where everything goes to die. This area is the traditional dying grounds of the dragons. They will fly here from any corner of the world and lay their bones on the bleached white snow. Few other creatures can be found in this wasteland. There have been plagues that keep out any permanent human settlers and only the bravest of questers come this way. There is Dragonblight Gold to be had in this area, especially since it is rumored to be the best way to reach the Lich King, but bravest and most skilled would try to earn their wealth here. Continue forward to learn more…

Instead, many people prefer to play it safe and earn their money from the comfort of the Auction House. Actually, once you get into the world of buying and selling, you will find that it can be just as stressful and financially dangerous as embarking on the most brutal of quests. Of course, you are rarely in any physical danger in the Auction House, but one wrong trade and you could risk losing a large portion of your carefully amassed fortune.

Making your money in the Auction House almost means that you must a great overall understanding of all aspects of World of Warcraft. You need to know what people want in order to sell it to them.

In order to get your start in the Auction House, you need a little capital. This can be had by spending a week or so doing some serious gathering. When you have a nest egg of about ten gold, you can start to earn money.

Earning gold through buying and selling boils down to buying low and selling high. Start your trading career with about ten gold and a week’s worth of time to watch the Auction House market. Get a feel for what the prices of all kinds of commodities should be. See what items sell immediately and what don’t sell during their twenty four hour window. You should be pretty confident in your knowledge after a week of watching. Then you can start buying.

Look for items that are selling below their typical asking price. If you see an underpriced item, immediately buy it.

As soon as you see something that is underpriced, buy it. Then hold onto it for a few days to make sure that the going rate is actually higher. Wait until the weekend if you can. When there are more people on the server is a greater demand, but not often a greater supply. You should be able to sell your item for a profit.

Whether you choose to earn Auction House Gold or Dragonblight Gold, keep your eyes and ears open for deals and dangers. Both places offer danger and ways to earn gold.

Burning Blade Gold From A Renown Orc Clan

October 13th, 2009

If you are setting out to get gold, there is no better gold to get than Burning Blade Gold. While all gold has the same purchasing power regardless of its origins, some gold is simply more prestigious than other types of gold. If you delve into the bloody history of the World of Warcraft you will gain a new respect for the Blademasters that make up the Burning Blade clan of orcs. Orcs are some of the most powerful creatures in the World of Warcraft. They are masterful killers and will stop at nothing to take down their prey. Their clan battled against the Horde in all three Wars and still retains a simmering hatred toward their mortal enemies. Their gold comes at a price.

If you don’t think that you’ll be able to survive a standoff with the Burning Blade clan because you are too new to the game, there are many other safer ways that you can earn gold in World of Warcraft.

Rather than reiterate the tried and true grinding techniques that every newcomer to World of Warcraft must master if he hopes to succeed, here are some tips that will help you to spend your time on the server more efficiently and therefore maximize your gold earning potential. First of all, you need to pick the right profession.

However, experienced WoW players have compiled lists of tricks and tips that will help you to earn more gold legally. First, you should start out being a gatherer by profession. Gathering means collecting different primary resources and selling them at the Auction House or to a vendor.

Vendors will take items at what amounts to a wholesale price. If you can establish a good relationship with a vendor you should have a steady buyer for all your gathered items and therefore a steady source of gold as you level up.

If you don’t want to waste your precious gold earning time traveling to and from the Auction House, you should consider creating a second, low level character to act as your auction broker.

You can save a lot of time, and therefore earn more gold, if you send your expensive items to your broker character and stay out in the field gathering more. Your broker character can also do your work at the Auction House, again saving time. On the same principal that time equals money, it is worth your initial investment to get a very big bag like Netherweave bag. This means that you are collecting more every time you are out in the field and earning more and more gold.

No matter what you decide to do to earn your gold in World of Warcraft, you should focus on earning gold for at least your first forty levels. Burning Blade Gold is great gold to have, but any will get you what you want.
