Why Your Notebook Computer Can Be Easier To Use

March 10th, 2010

A laptop isn’t just a piece of technological equipment these days; they are also a fashion statement. There are many accessories available which can make using your laptop a lot more fun. These ingenious piece of equipment are here to stay so why not make your time using them even more pleasurable?

Many long term laptop users have got sore legs from using them for long periods, due to the heat that they generate. Treat your self to a laptop cushion and make sore legs a thing of the past.

Another, and more important, aspect of these cushions is that they actually extend the lifespan of your laptop. How? By ensuring good ventilation, which in turn keeps the hard drive cool, and prevents overheating and ultimately burn out.

As your laptop is designed to be portable, you will be carrying it about a lot so a case or sleeve is more of a must have than an accessory. This provides protection for changes in temperature, knocks and scrapes and also keeps it clean and dust free. These are expensive pieces of kit so it makes sense to look after them.

Watch out when you put your laptop down on hard surfaces, always place them down very gently to avoid any jolts. This causes wear and tear and can shorten the lifestyle of your machine.

A wireless mouse is a great little gadget if you prefer to use a mouse as opposed to a laptop touchpad. Copying and pasting etc can be a lot easier with a mouse if that’s you’re used to one, and techies love these.

Listening to music on your laptop while surfing the net and/ or chatting is very popular, but be prepare for the poor sound quality of the internal speakers. An extra set that plug in or headphones are the way to go.

The improvement in sound quality is massive and headphones will allow you to watch videos or movie clips without interrupting anyone else in the room.

Tips on Finding the Best Apple Keyboards And Mouse Replacements

March 7th, 2010

The best keyboard and mouse replacements for Apple computers available today are not hard to find and tend to be cheap. Many large and small computer stores carry them. Alternatives abound for people who wish to use keyboards and mice other than the Apple brand, notwithstanding the fact that Apple carries quality products.

Logitech’s diNovo Edge Keyboard is one of the best Apple compatible keyboards on the market today. At a price of $180, it works well with Apple’s products and enables you to use iTunes, Safari, etc. The keyboard’s signature Touch Disk feature is a circular trackpad which is touch sensitive. Located on the left side of the keyboard, the person using the computer can easily scroll around the screen of his or her computer by using the Touch Disk. A sliding volume control is another great feature of the diNovo Edge, and the keyboard is compatible with Bluetooth within a 30 ft. Proximity. The Bluetooth compatibility translates into the keyboard’s not requiring a USB connection, a very desirable quality.

Another keyboard which serves as a solid alternative for Apple users is the Logitech diNovo Cordless Keyboard. It is much less expensive than the diNovo, retailing at $100. This keyboard works well with all Apple products, and there is compatibility between it and the Apple T Mac model. This keyboard has a 2.4 Ghz wireless connection by way of a palm rest, a USB receiver, and a prolonged battery life. Both the Cordless and diNovo models have a Perfect Key Stroke System, which was created to make the process of typing silent, easy, and quick for users.

Another possibility for PC users who need an alternative to their Apple keyboards is the Magically USB Slim keyboard. At a cost of $30, it is a bargain as compared to both of the keyboards discussed above. It brings to mind Apple computer keyboards from previous generations. It has USB ports on both of its sides, and the keyboard offers more functions when it is utilized with other devices. It comes with a color matched Macally ICEMOUSE that can be plugged into one or the other of the USB ports on it.

In addition to inexpensive and functional keyboards that serve as solid replacements for Apple computer parts, there are also Mac compatible mice that have great functionality and are right for the price. Once such mouse is the Logitech TrackMan Marble Trackball System. Retailing at about $30, it is highly compatible with all Apple computers, and it is half the price of Apple’s famed Mighty Mouse. A key feature of this mouse is that a user can scroll and track around a screen by rolling around a trackball on the mouse’s base. While a person needs to become comfortable with doing this, it becomes familiar after a while, and the Logitech Trackman does not require the space to move that other mice typically do.

The Kensington Pocket Mouse, like the Logitech TrackMan Marble System, is another mouse which is compatible with Apple computers. At around $15, it is a great bargain, and it is also reliable. This mouse will require an open USB port since it is wired, and it is a solid alternative to the Mighty Mouse, which costs nearly three times as much. It is, however, more of a travel mouse. Plug-and-play usage with MAC computers is one of the primary features of this mouse.

Some of the best Apple keyboard and mouse replacements are cost effective and highly functional. Logitech and Kensington are among the manufacturers of relatively inexpensive keyboards and mice that are highly compatible with Macs.

Look online to discover many used Apple laptops under $200. These Used Apple Laptops are the perfect choice for people who want to stay within a budget. Head online and shop today.

Where To Find Cheap Laptops

March 6th, 2010

As laptops tend to be expensive, finding cheap laptops is a goal of many individuals and businesses. The price of a good laptop can cost close to 1, 000 dollars or more. The cost would depend on the functions and model of the laptop. Fortunately, there are many arenas where inexpensive laptops can be discovered, and these include: the Internet, online auction sites, factory outlet stores, the Sunday classifieds, and word of mouth.

To begin, the Internet is an excellent resource for finding good deals on laptops. Upon going to any of the major search engines, someone can type in phrases including the word laptop along with with keywords such as discount, cheap, inexpensive, etc. This will result in a number of websites that offer laptops at reduced and sale prices.

A potential laptop buyer can find listings of people who wish to sell laptops on online auction sites. Sellers on these websites typically want to have a better performance than their fellow sellers, and for this reason, they price their items at the lowest value possible in many cases. A potential buyer would just need to key in laptop in the search function of the auction site, and he or she would then be given as list of sellers who have laptops for sale. The great thing about online auction sites is that the buyer will typically have a wide variety of items to choose from.

Another area where inexpensive laptops can be purchased are factory outlet stores. These stores offer items at prices that are much less than those at retail chains. Items that tend to be more expensive like computers and other electronic devices tend to be hot items at these outlets.

Print or online classifieds of newspapers, in particular the Sunday sections, tend to be good places to look and see if any cheap laptops are available for sale. The Sunday papers contain more ads, and thus it is a good idea to see if by chance there are any discounted laptops offered for sale in the weekend classified section.

Word of mouth recommendations from family members or friends are also great ways to find out if any cheap laptops are available. Relatives and friends may either be able to tell a potential buyer what stores are good to buy cheap laptops at, or they may even know someone directly who offers discounted computers. There is no harm in a buyer’s mentioning to others that he or she is looking to buy a laptop; it is possible that by doing so, a hot lead to an inexpensive laptop can be the end result.

Despite laptops being expensive in general, there are venues where inexpensive laptops fortunately can be located. These include: the Internet, online auction sites, factory outlet stores, the Sunday classifieds, and word of mouth.

Laptops Vs Desktops, The Battle Continues On

March 6th, 2010

Today, it is very unlikely that you will not seem someone with a computer. Anyone from children to the elderly probably have some type of contact with computers. Probably the most often asked question is what should I get, a laptop or a desktop? That is a battle that laptops and desktops have been experiences for many years.

Technology moves so fast these days that you might even find that your old reliable computer of just a few months old is already beginning to be labeled obsolete. How insane is that? But if you are one that must have the newest and latest of everything, then that is probably what will happen after just a few months.

When personal computers first hit the home market, that was the only concern, the desktop computer. It still, to this very day is the most prominent computer used in the home today. It stands to reason that will all the attention it gets, that a lot of desktops have a lot more advanced features than a lot of laptops. But the cousin of the desktop is now getting more attention and some are very close to being able to do the same as the desktop.

The advantage of laptops over the desktop is of course that it has great mobility. Owning a laptop allows you freedom to take it just about anywhere that you want to go. A big disadvantage though is that if you are not careful someone can walk off with it just as easily as you took it with you.

Another disadvantage laptops suffer is storage. Sure there are some that go as high as 100 to 120GB of hard drive, but that hardly compares to the fact that some desktops can go as 500GB of hard drive. Big difference.

Battery life of laptops can be an issue as well, especially since the average battery life is probably an hour or two of constant use. This means that once the battery is low, you then have to hook it up to an outlet to recharge and be able to continue to use. There are some computers that claim to have five ours of battery life. Although this is far better than a couple of hours, it is still a far cry from what a desktop can do.

When it comes to entertainment, so far laptops fall short when compared to desktops. Desktops are capable of producing top quality music, videos, slide shows and high quality gaming. As for the laptop, they can play these same things but there are always going to be limitations to how well they can handle the media.

When it comes to upgrading a computer, the desktop is going to offer you far more ways to upgrade, such as adding extra DVD players and burners, extra hard drives and a variety of other types of upgrades. Laptops on the other hand are very hard to upgrade. You can put in a new hard drive, but there are no ways to upgrade their motherboards or their processors.

In the end however; it all depends upon what you want to do with your laptop. If you are one that wants to make a laptop their main computer, you might want to reconsider that. The desktop is probably still the best bet for a main computer. Laptops of course can be great for travel and a lot of work you would do on a desktop that can later be uploaded to your main computer. If you can afford it, you might find it to be a good idea to own both a laptop and desktop.

How Cheap Laptops Can Give You What You Want For Less

March 5th, 2010

There has been much advancement in the way of the world since the first computer that took up the space of a whole room came about. We now have the ability to take our computers with us in the way of a laptop. We can also gain access to the internet via wi-fi that is available in most public places as well as the computer dongle for anywhere you can get reception on your mobile. Purchasing cheap laptops has never been as easy as it is now and I would like to tell you why.

People are wary of buying anything nowadays that has the word cheap on it in case they do not get the quality of the more expensive buys. What you need to do though is be aware of why they are cheaper as once you do you will realise that you can get quality on a budget.

The first is that because of the economic crisis some businesses have had to fold meaning that they have sold their stock on to others a lot cheaper than they would have done originally which means that those people can benefit when you buy but not have to charge as much as the original dealer.

Buying laptops that have been reconditioned is another way you can benefit. It means you sill have the benefit of a nearly new computer, maybe one that someone has tried but not been able to keep up with the repayments so they have to return it meaning that this is to your saving.

Every time the latest model comes in the next one down goes down in price so if you are not looking for the latest model and are happy with the next one down then you will be able to save so much on what you would pay for the latter.

When purchasing items over the internet they tend to be less than in store. The reason for this is that when something is bought from a shop you are paying for the maintenance and energy bills involved in the shop as well as staff wages.

Without the store rent and other costs the internet allows cheaper advertising yet a wider scope and is becoming a more popular way of shopping by the day. Less people who have to be paid means you pay less for the things you want too.

Those on the smallest budgets can now get the benefits that were once only available to people who had a job with a more than average income. Benefit from the latest systems without breaking the bank!

The Laptop Has An Interesting History

March 3rd, 2010

Do you know how your laptop came into being? If not, here’s a rather interesting history about its origins. The first portable computer was built during 1981. It was named Osborne. It was a clumsy, heavy contraption, and did not resemble the laptops of today, yet it was a major breakthrough in technology because it proved that computers could be portable.

In 1983 the Compaq Portable was launched. Although its ‘portability’ was questionable because it was just as cumbersome as Osborne, it was transportable and could operate on an MS-DOS platform. However it could only operate with electricity.

The first computer that resembled the laptops of today was one designed by Bill Moggridge. Released in 1982, it was called the GriD Compass 1101. Its magnesium case even resembled the clam-shelled style of modern laptops.

Another two laptops that are worth a mention in this era were the Gavilan SC and the Sharp PC-5000, especially the Gavilan which was the first to be marketed using the word ‘laptop’. In 1983 the biggest selling laptop computer was the Kyocera 85 which was truly portable in the sense that it could run on standard batteries.

Then came three commercial IBM-compatible laptops. Two of these were made by Toshiba, the T1200 and the T1000, and the other was the IBM PC Convertible. The two Toshibas were released in 1987, and the IBM was released in 1986. Over the following few years there were major developments in computer technology and, by 1995, the word ‘laptop’ was a household name.

Now here in the 21st Century we can hardly imagine life without our laptops! We tend to forget that not too long ago computers were owned by very few people. They were classed as luxury items. Quite the opposite applies today. What would our lives be like without computers, especially laptops?

No longer are we chained to our offices or homes if we want to use a computer. Everywhere you look, you will see women, men and even children clicking away on their laptops. We use them for research, we use them for entertainment and, of course, we use them for business.

You can take your laptop on holiday and, while you are sitting relaxing on some idyllic Mediterranean island, you can still pay your bills, check your emails, or buy anything your heart desires. All you need is a few accessories like a battery pack, a USB cable and a webcam. And if you are hooked on gaming, you can even get a joystick.

Buying A Good Cheap Laptop

March 2nd, 2010

Laptops have become almost a necessity in the world today, and with the economy going in the wrong direction, it is nice to find deals on the technology side of the spectrum. A cheap laptop is now available called the netbook. It is small and perfect to travel with when someone is on the go, and they need the internet. This article will focus on the cheap laptop or netbook.

The attraction of a small laptop is its mobility. For those who travel quite a bit, this avoids the bulky laptop which can be easily damaged. This size also accounts for the cheaper price. However, this also affects its power. It is efficient though for its size.

When looking for a netbook, one will find that one gigabyte of RAM is standard. The hard drive should contain 160 or greater of gigabytes. Windows 7 is now available, and this makes for a great working computer that meets needs from the regular person to the student.

If these are purchased, prices range between $300 and $400. This is a good deal for a new cheap laptop. Rebates are available from wireless services if you purchase their monthly wireless service. If a higher quality screen is wanted, this will push up the price a bit.

Places to shop for a new netbook would be, as noted, at a wireless provider who sells them. Any other store which sells all general laptops will have great selection and prices on netbooks. These would be large electronic stores or websites, office supply stores, and discount warehouse stores. Sales can be found, and a large selection can be found at all of these stores. Speaking to a professional can also let you know if these are the best laptops for needed purposes.

If these cheap laptops do not meet the requirements needed to do the work, cheap laptops can be purchased as well that are larger in size. Doing complete research will allow someone to get the best deals especially when someone does need extra memory and speed. Someone might be able to find the price of a larger laptop with extra power equal to that of a netbook.

The cheap laptops of today are netbooks, and they do not lack in performance for the price which they can be purchased. Certain amounts RAM should be researched as well as the amount of the hard drive. Netbooks are easily mobile, and high quality screens can be purchased.
