A New Chapter In The Ratchet and Clank Franchise

November 24th, 2009

The video game characters Ratchet and Clank have appeared together in 6 different games that have sold more then 16 million copies world wide since their debut on the Play Station 2 in 2002. In addition to an individual Ratchet game and an individual Clank game, Ratchet and Clank have stared together in games for the Play Station 2, Play Station Portable, and the Play Station 3.

Now they are back in another triple A title for the PS3, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. This game is a direct sequel to the last PS3 outing, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. The newest game will tie up all the loose ends from the series and give the fans of the franchise answers to some of the biggest questions of the franchise. The secrets will have to be found out by playing the game; I am not going to give away any spoilers. Just know that fans of the franchise will not be disappointed.

The Ratchet and Clank games have always been given special treatment and the developers have never skimped in what they delivered. Players are used to being treated to something special in every installment and the product is always top notch. This game delivers nothing less than the players demand and expect.

While not giving to much away, in Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time you will play as both Ratchet and Clank, separately, while both are working to free Clank from his imprisonment. On the levels where you are Ratchet the focus is on exploring and action, while the Clank boards present challenging puzzles that must be solved using Clank’s unique abilities.

In every aspect of the game, it surpasses anything that the fans have seen before and makes everything a little better. There are some familiar characters and weapons, but tons of new and exciting ones. It is almost as if the developers were making this game for the fans and not themselves, like they weren’t worried about making money, but were more worried about making a great game. And that’s just what they did, long time fans will love it and newcomers might finally finds out what all the fuss was about.

A Final Fantasy VII Prequel For The PSP

November 19th, 2009

Final Fantasy VII fans have been begging for another game in the series. What they really want is a sequel to the PlayStation original, but what they got was a prequel. The sequel was handled a different way, in a CGI movie by the name of Advent Children. It was a good movie, answering some questions and bringing the gang back together, but it wasn’t exactly what fans were dreaming of.

Square Enix has not delivered a sequel to FFVII, but a prequel, titled Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. This game is available exclusively on the Play Station Portable, which provides excellent graphics and superior game play for a hand held device. But what if you don’t own a Play Station Portable, is the game worth it to go out and purchase one, is it worth it to even purchase the game itself?

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII has received outstanding reviews from gamers and critics. The graphics and game play on the Play Station Portable are also terrific. Whether you are a hardcore fan of the original Final Fantasy VII, or are new to the Final Fantasy franchise, you will soon become immersed in the world, and enthralled by the excellent story. If you have a Play Station Portable this is definitely a title that is worth picking up, and if you are a Final Fantasy fan it is a must own.

It is not your traditional RPG. There is no level grinding and it is not turned based. You only play with one character at a time, Zack, the unknown hero form Final Fantasy VII. Without giving too much away of the story, there are plenty of returning characters and everybody’s favorite bad boy-Sepheroth. The story revolves around Zack and even though those of us who played the original game know exactly how this new game will end, even though it is heartbreaking and we dread the end, the way it comes about is unknown and surprising. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way.

There are some aspects of the game that are a little disappointing. Mainly the leveling up and limit break game. It is basically a slot machine game that randomly levels you up or gives you bonus power ups. The problem is that it is so random, the player has no control what so ever.

The gaming world has taking over the entertainment department in many peoples lives. Whether you are a Sony fan or a Nintendo fan you should check out www.cdwow.com. They offer a full gaming selection from new ps3 games to the best ds games around.

Stones Vs. Beatles

November 11th, 2009

While many people consider the Beatles the greatest rock band of all time, and they might just be, there is a justifiable debate on which band is the second greatest. While there are fans that would debate the pros and cons of such bands as Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin and even The Who, for many people, The Stones are the greatest band of all time.

Die hard fans of The Beatles cannot be diehard fans of the Rolling Stones, and vice versa. Both bands have been tremendously successful, selling millions of albums, and having numerous hit singles. Both bands music have also thrived over the past 40 years, withstanding the test of time. Perhaps it is because the styles of music are so different that people are so divided, but fans of either one cannot deny the success of the other.

Both bands had the majority of their hits, and released their greatest albums prior to the’70s, but both have continued to release new music over the decades since. Just turn on a classic rock station on the radio, and you won’t need to listen long to hear one hit song or another by either of these bands. And both bands have had a tremendous impact on many of the rock bands that became popular in the years and decades that have past since they both came on the scene.

Most prolific and influential with their early writing, they performed with flair and without inhibition, unlike anything else at the time. They mixed a British rock sound, with a grittier jazz and American southern rock sound all mixed together. They took the inner city sounds of the big city and infused all kinds of music together, even some reggae and island sounds. In the seventies they even stayed relevant by mixing in some disco sounds that were so popular at the time. Even though disco has long since been nearly unlistenable, the Stones music from the time have enough rock sounds that they still hold up today.

The Beatles broke up in the early’70s, just before the release of Abbey Road. The Rolling Stones are still together today, creating albums and touring world wide. An argument could be made that The Beatles made the right choice to get out while they were on top. An argument could also be made that since the Rolling Stones have remained together for so long that they are the better band. So which side of the debate do you fall on? As for me, I believe “you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find, you get what you need”.

The Decepticons Strike Back – Transformers 2

October 30th, 2009

One of the biggest blockbuster movies of this past summer, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, is now available on DVD and Blu-ray. This movie picks up after the events that took place in the extremely successful first enstallment of the franchise, Transformers. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen offers everything an action lover would want in a summer hit, great special effects, especially the CGI robots, fight scenes, explosions, and lots of fast paced action as the heros race around the globe to avert the latest crisis. This movie, while maybe not as good as its predecessor, is still a perfect combination of action and sci-fi that will entertain any fan of the first movie.

I can say that the two stars of the movie, Megan Fox and Shia didn’t completely ruin the whole film this time. I am not really a fan of either, but they both did a respectable job of bringing their characters back to life. Michael Bay obviously had a different way that he wanted them to look this time around and he played up on some angles that might not be suitable for the younger audience.

Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen may not be as suitable for younger children as the first Transformers movie was. There are several scenes where both robots and humans use profain language, and their are also several scenes that are sexually suggestive. The movie is rated PG-13, so if you have children under 13 who want to see the movie you probably should watch it first and then decide if it is appropriate for your kids.

The special effects in Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen are superior to the first Transformers movie, with more robots, more action and more explosions. The movie does fall short of its predecessor when it comes to the story, though. While anyone choosing to watch the movie knows they are not going to be seeing a dramatic, moving story, the story does fall short of the original, and does feel a little contrived at times. The Blu-ray and extended DVD versions of the movie offer many great extras, and offer some insight as to how the movie was made. Both versions also offer some people’s favorite part of the movie, deleted scenes.

Since Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen was just as succesful as the first enstallment, it almost guarantees that their will be a Transformers 3 in the future. That movie will be sure to have even more explosions and special effects, and if they can improve the story it may help to keep the franchise going for a long time.

Land Of The Lost

October 27th, 2009

Will Ferrell stars in this movie remake of the seventies classic TV show, The Land of the Lost. While it has some similarities to the classic show, Will and the gang put a different spin on the humor and the high jinks. Ferrell stars as Dr. Rick Marshall, a scientist that believes that time travel is possible and he wants to prove it.

He isn’t the most lovable character and because most people in the field don’t like him and think some of his time travel ideas are crazy, he gets laughed out of the field and becomes a middle school science teacher. One person, Holly, played by Ana Freil, believes in Dr. Marshall’s work and vision and encourages Dr. Marshall to continue his work.

After an all night eating binge, Dr. Marshall and his new colleague Holly decide to have a live field test of the device and visit a cave in the desert that happens to be a tourist trap run by Will, a flea market fireworks salesman played by Danny McBride. The three of them are sent by a mysterious event hurling into another time dimension. When they arrive, they are greeted by bizarre insects, lizard people and a race of monkey like people, along with a big man eating dinosaur. Ferrell makes instant enemies with the dinosaur for one of the best running gags in the movie.

The group meets up with a monkey person almost right away named Chaka. With Chaka’s help, the three must recover the lost time travel device in order to return home, but they must survive the countless hazards of the new land they find themselves in. That is if they can keep from killing each other first.

Although this film was not a box office smash, or even Will Ferrell’s best work, it does have many fun and entertaining qualities. Chaka and the character Will, give us some of the best laughs in the movie, and Ferrell gives us his best adolescent grown up character. There are many great special effect and CGI shows this new world well. Although the lizard people tend to look a little off, it is meant to be that way to represent the classic television show. The CD comes with a few extras, which are funny thanks to the touch of Will Farrell. This is a PG-13 film and not intended for younger viewers due to sexual references and language.

Oh, Bother! Winnie the Pooh Personal Checks

October 21st, 2009

Both children and adults have been enjoying the adventures of Winnie the Pooh, along with his good friends Eyeore, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, Roo, Piglet, and Christopher Robin, for more than 70 years now. A couple of different generations have gotten to know the wonderment of the Hundred Acre Wood and the adventures that it can bring. If you love Pooh and Company and would like something different for your personal checks, then you might want to consider purchasing Winnie the Pooh checks.

Winnie the Pooh was popularized in the 1926 AA Milne book Winnie-the-Pooh. He showed up again in The House at Pooh Corner in 1928. Before that, he made his first appearance in a 1924 poem. In 1960, when the book was translated into Latin, it became the first foreign language book to show up on the New York Times bestseller’s list.

There really was a Christopher Robin and a real Winnie the Pooh. Christopher Robin was Milne’s son and Pooh was his real teddy bear’s name. Christopher also named the other characters, except for Owl and Rabbit who were added later by Disney.

In addition, the Hundred Acre Wood is also based on a real place. It was based on AA Milne’s home in Ashdown Forest, located in East Sussex, England. The name “Hundred Acre Wood” probably derives from the nearby Five Hundred Acre Wood which has some of the same places that are referenced in the stories.

There are several types of Winnie the Pooh checks available. One popular series contains 4 checks with a different image on each one. The first one shows Pooh alone, the second one shows Pooh and Eyeore, the third one shows Pooh and Tigger, and the last one features Pooh and Piglet. A matching checkbook cover can be purchased with the checks that has “Pooh” written across the front in large, colorful letters against a yellow background with daisies.

Another popular series shows whimsical images of Winnie the Pooh with his best friends from the Hundred Acre Woods. Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore are all featured on these checks as well, although the colors are a bit more muted from the first ones.

Finally, you can also buy Classic Winnie the Pooh checks. These include the original illustrations of Pooh and his friends. These checks also illustrate Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger but Christopher Robin is incorporated also. If you want something with a more traditional feel, these might be your best bet.

You can normally buy matching checkbook covers, address labels, and contact cards to coordinate with your checks.

By purchasing your new checks online from a safe and trusted website you can sometimes save as much as 50% off of what you might have paid in the past. In addition, it generally takes a shorter amount of time, such as 5 days, to receive them. With your bank, it can sometimes take u to 2 weeks. That’s a long time to wait for your checks!

Before you order Pooh Checks, go to PoohChecks.net to get coupons and to save 50% off your next purchase of Winnie the Pooh Checks.

Carry on the Disney Legacy with Mickey Mouse Checks

September 18th, 2009

Created by Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse is a dearly loved character that is known worldwide. Despite the fact that in his 80 years his image has changed, he is immediately identifiable everywhere he goes. His likeness has been used on items like costumes, posters, figurines, key chains, and clothing. Nowadays, if you love Mickey Mouse, you can even purchase personal bank checks that contain the famous mouse.

Mickey first emerged on the scene in 1928 as a replacement for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Walt Disney himself voiced him until 1947. Mickey made his debut on November 18th in the cartoon “Steamboat Willie.” This was rare for a cartoon since films with sound were still comparatively new at that point.

The concept of Mickey Mouse partially resulted from the popularity of Charlie Chaplin, who was very renowned during that time period. Walt Disney knew that the movie audience liked small animals and childish figures and thought that an animated mouse would generate some of the ingenuousness that Charlie Chaplin depicted.

Mickey was the mascot for the well-liked television series “The Mickey Mouse Club” which gave the audience stars such as Annette Funicello. During the show’s revival in the early 1990’s, it gave us some of our current stars such as Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, Keri Russell, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. Today, Mickey can still be found on television with the children’s program “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” which features all of his Disney friends, too.

Nowadays, Mickey Mouse is world famous for being a mouse with human traits and a friendly persona. He is the representative for Walt Disney theme parks, and few characters have continued to be as popular.

There is no better way to share the magic of Disney then by using Mickey Mouse checks. You can find checks that contain single images of Mickey Mouse, or checks that also contain images of Mickey with his friends Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald Duck.

Almost all of the Mickey checks come in a series of 4 rotating designs. With these, every check you write will be different from the one before it meaning you won’t have to make up your mind between different images.

You can also get checks with images of Mickey from his early years as well if you favor vintage style checks.

Some Mickey Mouse checks even let you use a photograph of your own on the checks to create something even more individual to you.

Matching checkbook covers, contact cards, stationary, and address labels can be found to coordinate with your new checks. Coordinating accessories can be found with nearly every check series.

In the past, it was expensive to go to your local bank and order personal checks that weren’t plain and boring. Now, however, if you order your checks online at a reputable site you can save as much as 50% off of the cost that you would have paid in the past.

You should know your routing number and your checking account number when you buy your Mickey checks. Expect to receive them in the mail in about 5 days. That might even be a less amount of time that your bank would get them to you.

Before you purchase Mickey Mouse checks, go to MickeyMouseChecks.net to find coupons and to save 50% off your next order of Mickey Mouse personal checks.

Tinkerbell Can Liven Up Your Bank Checks

September 17th, 2009

Do you love Disney’s impish little fairy, Tinkerbell? Even though she is mostly known for her appearance in the1953 Disney movie “Peter Pan”, she first appeared in 1904 as a character in J.M. Barrie’s play and again in the 1911 novel Peter and Wendy.

Since her conception, she has become of Disney’s most popular and beloved characters. You can find her likeness on items from beach towels to T-shirts, coffee mugs, tote bags, dinnerware, and stationary. Disneyland’s Disney Electrical Parade even has a Tinkerbell float. You might want to consider using her image on your own personal bank checks if you are a fan of this marvelously playful pixie.

Tinkerbell’s name derived from the fact that she could fix kettles and pots like a tinker could do. To most people, her voice sounds like ringing bells. The only people who can really understand what she is saying are those that know her language.

She also had a lot of human characteristics-even for a fairy. Many women are able to relate to Tinkerbell and her unreciprocated love for a man-Peter Pan in her case. Tink’s envy of Wendy made her all too human.

Tinkerbell was really modeled after Margaret Kerry though it was alleged that she was fashioned after celebrated screen legend Marilyn Monroe. Yet, with her bouncy blond hair and buxom body she was not your normal starlet-even for a cartoon character! .

These days she is just as popular as other co-stars from “Peter Pan” and is even the focal point of the “Disney Fairies” franchise. Not long ago, she even had her own movie come out on DVD.

Tinkerbell still flies through the sky every summer evening over Disneyland to proclaim the evening fireworks. In 2009, she will be getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

You show everyone that you believe in Tinker Bell’s delightful charms by buying check designs that contain her likeness. You can also buy matching accessories like checkbook covers, address labels, and contact cards to coordinate with your checks.

There are multitudes of Tinkerbell checks available to buy. You can find checks that contain images of her images of her with Peter Pan or checks that feature her alone. Halloween-themed seasonal checks are even available that contain her image.

Most of the check series come with 4 rotating images, which means that every check you write will be different than the previous one.

Don’t let the previous high cost of buying personal checks keep you from buying yours now. These days, if you buy them online from a reputable website, you can save as much as 50% off the price that you could have paid at your local bank in the past. There are many good websites to pick from.

When you purchase your checks online, you just need to know your checking account number and your routing number. You can anticipate getting your checks in about 5 days. In addition, you get the added handiness of not even needing to make a trip to the bank to buy them!

Before you order TinkerBell checks, visit TinkerBellChecks.net to find coupon codes and to save 50% off your next order of TinkerBell personal checks.

ASUS inexplicably releases a Disney netbook

June 17th, 2009

Huh. That’s weird. Well, ASUS and Disney teamed up on a netbook, called the Netpal, designed to “make computing fun.” I thought a regular laptop with parental controls could do the same thing, but apparently you need an 8.9-inch display, Wi-Fi, and a locked down version of XP to really have fun.

The Netpal is selling at Toys ‘r’ Us and Amazon for $349. Would you buy a full-bore netbook for your kids?

The concept of kids computing has been sewn up so far by Leapfrog with their easy-to-use kids devices. This looks considerably more complex – and more expensive – and I remember a few years ago another manufacturer tried the same thing, a computer called the Disney Dream Desk. I don’t think the market was ready then and I doubt it’s ready now. Thoughts?
