Save Our Earth By Using Environmentally Safe Packaging Materials

March 5th, 2010

If you are a business owner looking for better way to pack your boxes to protect your merchandise, now is the time to make the switch to green packaging materials. I will share what those materials are and why it is so important to get on the eco safe band wagon.

There are several manufactures that make only eco friendly materials to pack your shipping boxes. All of these materials are recyclable and can be reused for other things. These may cost more than traditional items like bubble wrap, but they are worth every penny to help our precious environment.

One of those interesting products would be the foam peanuts, and the foam sheets. Both of which are starched based. If these materials should get wet they will melt right into the earth. The sheets are designed to protect anything made of glass, and keep it from getting scratched or broken.

For those who want to recycle and reuse what you already have is a help as well. Although most of these things are not earth friendly they can still be used. Some of the items that can be used for packing would be newspapers that are crumpled for extra cushion. Torn up cardboard boxes that you can roll up to take up space in the box.

You will have to have a great imagination for these two packing products. I am talking about the plastic bottles, two liter and the smaller 10 ounce size which you can use for packing. The smaller of the two of course will go into medium or small box. Use the bigger bottles for largest boxes.

There is a feeling in all of us that we want to do something to save our environment. That is the reason to begin using these materials on a daily basis. Each product you recycle now will keep it out of the landfills. Even if it is not necessarily environment save.

If you work a warehouse and need packaging materials to send and receive, you should find the correct supplier. There are a lot of websites that can help you get items such as bubble wrap, boxes and tape.

Packaging Supplies – What Are Your Options?

December 26th, 2009

The first thing you need to deal with when you decide to move is the packaging supplies. When you go to a store and start to look at the options in front of you it is easy to get overwhelmed with everything that is available these days. Boxes in a variety of shapes and sizes need to be purchased, but of course you need to know how many to buy. Discussed below are some simple tips to get you through the moving process.

For larger items, like appliances and furniture, you will need to find out the dimensions so that you don’t buy the wrong sizes. Don’t buy a box that is exactly the same size, nor too big or small. For the best fit, you should have about an inch of space inside the box, on all sides, after it is packed.

Don’t forget to get all the other packaging supplies you will need either. You are going to need packing peanuts to stuff the extra space, bubble wrap to wrap up your breakables, tape for all of the boxes and labels so that you can keep up with what is in each box.

Electronic items should never be packed together. When your moving, things can get broken very easily so it is extremely important that you have packed everything correctly so that you minimize that risk.

This tips can be pretty useful when you are taking on the task of moving all on your own. If for some reason you decided to hire a moving company though, you won’t need to be concerned with any of this. A moving company is best if you feel stressed about the situation.

When the time comes to get everything packed and moved, your moving company will have all of the packaging supplies to get the job done right. They usually even offer the choice of having different types of items, like clothes, packaged in boxes together.

If you are planning to go to a new city or area, you will feel that you need more packaging supplies. You also will not want to forget that you will need a few cardboard boxes to pack things into.

Packaging Supplies: Best Cardboard Boxes

December 6th, 2009

Cardboard boxes are very different from corrugated boxes and are best used as packaging boxes. Cardboard boxes come in different wall sizes; triple walled being the strongest of them. You can also find them in single and doubled walled. The main item in packaging supplies is cardboard boxes. The boxes are used to hold any amount of luggage, this depending on the variety that is being packing.

Using cardboard boxes for packing is ideal as it is an eco-friendly product itself that makes the cardboard and is also cost effective when compared to timber. In case the luggage has to be shipped, the cost incurred will be low on account of the weight of the packaging compared to other types and getting the name and address and other details on the boxes becomes easy. Care has to be taken while packing heavy duty materials in these cardboards and necessary bolsters must be provided so that there is no breakage in the transit.

When hiring professional help, along with them you receive the packaging and the required number of boxes for the relocation.

Often when thinking of cardboard boxes you think of the flimsy boxes that can be found in food stores. However there are cardboard boxes that have much better quality, these boxes come when hiring professional packers. These cardboard boxes are able to hold many items and transport the goods in a good, safe condition.

If the goods you are transferring need to be carried over a long distance then a high quality cardboard box should be used. This is because high quality boxes will not cave in under pressure and are an excellent choice when thinking of packing perishable items. Larger companies also use cardboard boxes to deliver their goods in. Even when using high quality cardboard boxes it is advised to use tape for added security for the items within the package.

Of Bubble Wrap And Clear Stretch Wrap

November 19th, 2009

There is a lot of innovation going on in the packaging materials industry, and there is bound to be much more coming our way. If you look back and see where this innovation actually started, you will realize that it did with a few specialist companies coming up to manufacture only different packaging solutions. Earlier, it was just the plain old cardboard boxes and most of them were either made in-house or purchased from a standard supplier.

Over the last ten years or so, consumers have become more aware of quality of packaging as people expect a decent shelf life on more or less all the products they buy. Possibly the biggest innovation in terms of packaging foodstuffs was when Tetra Packs broke into mainstream packaging. Tetra Packs increased the shelf life of perishable foods like milk by a huge amount, making consumers feel more inclined to buy in bulk, which is of course, a win-win situation for both customer and company.

The packaging innovations did not stop with better packaging for perishable foodstuffs however. We all remember bubble wrap from childhood and the endless satisfaction that comes with popping the bubbles, and as bubble wrap makes its comeback today it is only getting stronger and more reliable. With sales of electronic goods rising, there comes a need for a packaging material that can keep delicate items safe during transport, and so bubble wrap is once again on the rise!

The other kind of packaging material that has become so common in the recent times is the clear stretch wrap. With hygiene becoming of paramount importance, people no longer want to take a chance, and they trust the quality seal of clear stretch wrap.

If you really think about it, packaging materials are used on every level of the commerce chain, including by everyday consumers. Whether youre moving house or just transporting something valuable, bubble wrap and clear stretch wrap are ideal.

What Makes Packaging Effective?

October 27th, 2009

Packaging is a huge industry today, and studies show that it will only become much bigger with time! Over the next few years, tremendous emphasis will be laid on this field, as the expectations of the market are changing in that angle.

Whether your company sells or manufactures a large product or a very small product, in fact if your company ever presents an product of any kind to anyone, then you cant ignore the power that good packaging material has, it is what creates the first impression in the eyes of the customer. I’m sure you will be able to recall times where you have bought a product based on the packaging, and by the same token there are many products that fail to sell in the masses because of a bad choice of packaging.

If you have a company that organises your branding and the way your product appears to its target market, then they will probably make recommendations about packaging as well, otherwise you may well have just decided what to do about your packaging on a whim or because someone else recommended it to you, and the chances are that there will be something out there that is far better suited to your product. Making changes to packaging materials is on the whole an easier process nowadays because most companies have third party vendors who do all of their packaging for them and so any changes can usually be arranged with a simple phone call.

Most products these days have packaging that has been designed specifically for that product by including the branding of that product on the packaging as well as adding multiple layers of packaging for delicate products such as electronics in which there has been a massive boom in sales and so protection packaging like bubble wrap is being used more and more. Also with the environmental issues that face the world it is important to use packaging that is friendly to the environment as packaging is considered to be one of the worst culprits of environmental damage.

Make sure you consider all these factors before choosing your packaging materials.

Advantages Of The Different Packaging Materials Available

September 17th, 2009

If you have ever moved house or moved office, or just a general need to transport goods from location to location, then you will have needed to use packaging materials of some description. There are two main constructions of cardboard box, single wall and double wall.

Single wall is one layer of cardboard with one layer of fluting, ideal for smaller, lighter objects. Single wall boxes are perfect for packaging, storing and transporting a variety of products, especially where the weight of the contents is not great.

Double walled boxes are constructed as follows; a layer of cardboard, a layer of fluting, a layer of cardboard, another layer of fluting, and another layer of cardboard. These boxes are perfect for storing, courier posting or manually transporting heavier bulkier items.

Although double walled boxes do cost more in the short term, they are able to support far more weight and are therefore far more durable than single walled boxes and will last much longer.

When packing light items, they can be placed in a suitable box and then supported using Loosefill otherwise known on the street as Watsits (except they are white and dont taste as good!) Loosefill will protect light items from damage in transit, but if the items that you are transporting have much weight to them, you will want to wrap them in bubble wrap.

Bubble wrap will not only protect your goods from potential damage should the box be dropped or if it moves in transit, but it will also protect items surrounding your item from damage if your item has significant weight. Bubble wrap is cheap and so is cost effective as a means of protecting your goods whilst you move them from place to place.

Depending on the goods you intend to package, you might prefer to use corrugated paper to keep items separate and thus protected. Sometimes called wavy paper or protection paper, corrugated paper is another cost effective way to protect items in packing boxes. Corrugated paper comes in 75 metre rolls in a variety of widths to suit any requirements.

The important thing to remember is that no matter what you are planning to transport, there is a suitable packaging medium to do the job for you. Correctly used, your goods will arrive at their destination in one piece without any problems. All that is required is to make sure that you use packaging materials suitable for your application.
