A Brief Report To Sony Televisions And Their Features

February 4th, 2010

The Bravia engine has been an integral part of Sony Televisions for a long time, the current edition of the bravia engine is the Sony Bravia 3. The LCD TVs that they produce range from 15″ to an astounding 70″, all of these come with HD as standard. The Braiva engine is the part of the TV that manipulates the picture from the source and increases specific aspects of it resulting in a clearer and more defined image.

The larger TVs contain a feature called Motionflow, this increases the refresh rate of the TV to 200Mhz. The effect of this is that action sequences appear smoother and more defined during viewing. At present this is the largest refresh rate on the market.

A novel function present within the larger TVs is called Bravia Presence sensor, this detects when you are in the room watching the TV. When you leave the TV will automatically switch itself off after a length of time and switch back on when you return, saving both energy and money.

Bravia sync allows for the connection of various devices to the TV which can be controlled with the touch of a button. This allows for any media content that is on a separate device to be played through the TV.

All Bravia TVs come with digital and analogue tuners integrated whilst some of the larger and more expensive models also come with a Freesat tuner as well.

Sony recognise that just outputting an excellent picture is not enough in today’s competitive market and as such have included a speaker system which provides more than enough power to successfully play audio from various medias to a high quality. In addition to this S-Front surround has been included which allows for virtual surround sound to be broadcast through the speakers.

All Sony TVs have excellent connectivity. The smaller portable devices have at least one HDMI connection so you can hook up a HD device whilst the larger models can contain up to four. The standard connections found on all TVs are present; such as SCART, Component, S-Video etc.

A new feature to the Bravia TVs is Edge LED, this helps to improve the contrast between similar colors whilst also reducing the energy used and increasing the lifespan of the set. LEDs are placed around the edge of the LCD panel and an optical sheet spreads the light out evenly behind the screen.

Sony Televisions are considered to be one of the best products available in Home entertainment. This is reflected in the amount of functions and features that they offer but also within their price.
